The Country Colony Community Improvement Association is a relatively small neighborhood with an enormous sense of community pride. Despite the neighborhood’s proximity to the freeway, Country Colony feels tucked away with its tree-lined streets and roughly 200 charming homes. The size of the community, paired with the serenity and seclusion of the Porter woods, lends itself to an association that feels close and connected.
While some of this camaraderie is innate due to the placement and size of Country Colony, the majority of the rapport between neighbors is no accident. The Board of Directors takes on an extremely hands-on approach to helping homeowners. They aim to foster approachability in all endeavors; the Board’s presence in the neighborhood and open communication encourage property owners to reach out when they need help—whether it’s an application, a violation, a payment plan, or a different type of concern, homeowners know they can approach the Board and be met with an empathetic, thorough response.
The Country Colony volunteers stay involved in any and all community and county matters. They can be seen mowing county-owned easement lots for the benefit of residents, attending every meeting with the M.U.D. to ensure that they remain knowledgeable on local projects, and socializing with homeowners. From the friendly competition of the annual holiday lights contest to the neighborhood newsletter that keeps homeowners informed, it’s clear that the Country Colony team is invested in promoting neighborly goodwill.
Ultimately, it’s not the beautiful forested location of Country Colony that makes the community special. Nor is it the houses brimming with character, the closeness to North Kingwood, or the nearby local park. It’s not anything that someone from outside of the neighborhood might expect. Instead, it’s the residents—with the palpable kindness that they cultivate, their amicability with those around them—that make the community an exceptional place to live. We are proud to honor this incredible association with its incredible people.
