Stonefield - Robert (Bob) Hoeppner
by Tina Jameson

Robert (Bob) Hoeppner is currently the Secretary/Treasurer for Stonefield Association in San Antonio. He puts together the Easter Event, runs the Movie Night at the Pool, chairs the Park Committee, is in charge of a large renovation to the community park building, and spends countless hours working in the park on projects, saving the Association quite a bit of money.

His recent projects include replacing the basketball court surface, installing a French drain system inside the pool area, relocating the video camera inside the park area, pressure washing all the concrete surfaces and coordinating the installation of a new light pole in the parking lot.

He is the Community Website Administrator for the community, and adds articles of interest on the community’s pages on www.ciaservices.com to keep the content fresh.

I haven’t seen anything yet that Bob will not take on. If you are thinking this gentleman must be retired, think again, he has a full time career and family. You could not ask for a better ambassador and tireless advocate for Stonefield than Bob Hoeppner.

Can You Say Lymphangioleiomyomatosis?
by Jennifer Northington

Lymphangioleiomyomatosis, more commonly called LAM, is a rare lung disease affecting women across the globe including Summerwood board member and resident, Kathi Hawn.  To raise funds and awareness for LAM, the Summerwood community proudly hosted a 5k walk/run to help raise funds for The LAM Foundation.  The LAM Foundation is the driving force behind the search for effective treatments, and ultimately, a cure for LAM. The Foundation has also become the education and support network for women affected by LAM, and a trusted resource for health care professionals and scientists.

Kathi’s employer, Newland Communities, was the developer in Summerwood and approached the community with the idea for the event.  A great team at Newland Communities took care of all of the planning and did an amazing job in making sure the event was a great success.  On March 21st, on a very wet day, more than 200 people braved the rain to walk around beautiful Lake Anne and Lake Meredith to show their support.

The event included fun for all ages with stickers, temporary tattoos, and coloring pages for children and adults had the chance to win wonderful prizes donated by local businesses in the raffle.  The music flowed and silly photos were taken as the community came together over breakfast from Chick – Fil – A.

By the end of the day, more than $38,000 was raised for The LAM Foundation.  What a great way to show support for a community volunteer!  For more information on LAM please visit www.thelamfoundation.org.

Certified Manager of Community Associations

Community Manager Kimberly Cowart of our North Houston office has recently earned the Certified Managers of Community Associations (CMCA®) designation by the Community Association Managers International Certification Board (CAMICB).

The board administers the CMCA examination, a rigorous test that measures knowledge of community management best practices. Kimberly joins more than 11,000 CMCAs worldwide who have demonstrated the skills essential for managing homeowner associations.

The CMCA is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) and complies with the NCCA’s stringent international standards for a professional certification program.

CAMICB is an independent board that sets the standards for community association managers worldwide. It is the first and only organization created solely to certify community association managers and enhance the professional practice of community association management.

Practical Deed Restriction Management

Deed restriction management is one of the most difficult tasks handled by homeowners associations because it involves subjective decisions, homeowner’s property and emotions. This seminar covers the steps in deed restriction management and how a process can contain “intelligence” and common sense. We discuss the relation between deed restrictions and architectural control and give you examples of well crafted guidelines. We’ll provide the best approaches for handling the toughest problems. Practical deed restriction management requires clear communications and reasonable requirements.
