Dewayne Nelson of The Overlook Homeowners Association
by Tera Rond

Dewayne Nelson has been a homeowner in The Overlook community since 2000. He is well known in the community for his willingness to go above and beyond to help the needs of the community. He is always the first to volunteer to put events together and complete projects. He has served on the board for many years, giving his time and talents so generously. We are fortunate to have him as our current treasurer.

Dewayne comes with many accomplishments in his life; he pursued dual careers in business and the military. Dewayne spent 28 years with Sears Roebuck, eventually becoming a National Manager, and 10 years with the nation’s largest graphic arts company as Vice President and Director of Marketing. He was also in the military for 38 years and rose from Private to Colonel during his time. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Legion of Merit, amongst others, for his time serving in Operation Desert Storm, Nobel Eagle, Iraqi Freedom, and short tours in Korea.

Upon retirement, Dewayne began his extensive volunteerism. He’s been on the board of numerous San Antonio organizations, including the Planning Commission, Building Standards Board, District 9 Alliance, Wilderness Oak Alliance, and Bexar County Master Gardner program. Dewayne is no stranger to homeowners associations either - he’s served on boards in Illinois, Comal County, and Bexar County and held various positions during his time in each.

Based on these accomplishments alone, it is clear Dewayne has always worked hard and cared about his community and country. Thank you for all you do!

Congratulations to Lindsay Scholfield - ILEA Esprit Awards Winner

The International Live Events Association (ILEA) presented the 2021 ILEA Esprit Awards — honoring creativity and innovation in event design, production, and execution — during a dynamic virtual program on August 13. Every year, the ILEA Esprit Awards recognizes excellence in events of varying types, sizes, and budgets across more than two dozen categories and subcategories. Employee Lindsay Scholfield was a part of one of the winning teams at this year’s award, receiving honors in the Best ILEA Event Volunteer Collaboration category for her work with The Prestige – the 2020 Texas Star Awards.

The 2020 Texas Star Awards was a magical evening hosted by the ILEA Houston Chapter. The Pledge, The Turn, and The Prestige were highlighted by the elegant décor, dynamic stage and LED Screens, innovative food and beverage selections, and magical entertainment. The two-part event consisted of a seated dinner and awards show followed by an extravagant mystery dessert celebration party that truly awed attendees.

“The ILEA Esprit Awards are one of our signature programs for a reason,” said ILEA International President Corinne Kessel, CSEP. “Every year they spotlight the work of some of the most dedicated and talented event professionals in the world. They show us what’s possible when you bring people together, and that’s a message everyone needs to hear right now. Congratulations to all of this year’s ILEA Esprit Awards recipients!”

Stockholder Anniversaries

Ralph Troiano, President & CEO, is celebrating 37 years since the creation of C.I.A. Services in 1984. Ralph is an approachable leader that provides expertise within and outside of the company. The program enables the company to provide outstanding service, and we’re grateful for his engineering experience. Outside work, Ralph can frequently be found on the ice playing his favorite game of hockey!

Congratulations to Debra Bearden on her 8th anniversary! Debra is our Team Lead of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable in our Bandera Office. She recently moved to Louisiana with her husband and corgis but remains a vital asset to our team.

Briana Ashe is our newest stockholder, as she has reached 5 years this September! Briana is our San Antonio Customer Care representative and knows all the communities like the back of her hand. Outside of work, Briana enjoys reality tv and is a dog mom of two.
