Whatever your motivation, there’s a place just for you. Volunteers are in high demand. Find out how you can help and make yourself at home!

Board of Directors

Board of Directors

Following is a summary of the role each officer may play on the Board of Directors; however, the board may elect to transfer some roles to the manager. For example, the manager may lead the meeting or take the minutes; however, the decision makers are the elected directors, not the manager.

President
The role of the President is that of a leader. The President typically presides over the meetings, keeps the agenda going and ensures sound decisions are made. The President leads discussions and ensures productivity. The President often signs legal documents such as loans and contracts and serves as a signatory for checks (payments).

Vice President
The Vice-President shall act in place of the President in the event of his/her absence, inability or refusal to act, and shall exercise and discharge such other duties as may be required of this position by the Board.

Secretary
The Secretary is typically responsible for the minutes of the meeting; however, the manager is often assigned this task and the Secretary signs the acceptance of the minutes upon board approval. The Secretary may also sign various legal documents such as contracts.

Treasurer
The treasurer serves as a signatory for checks and reviews the payables and financials. Management handles the daily operation of the financials; however, the treasurer serves as a checks and balance. The Treasurer also signs financial documents such as tax returns, audits or loans.

Committee Volunteers Needed

Below are examples of existing or potential committees that benefit The Highlands. If you are interested in participating, please contact C.I.A. Services.

Good Neighbor
A neighborhood is only made a community by the strength of its residents. The board has implemented a recognition program to honor those who know that the meaning of the word neighbor is more than just an adjacent property.

Do you have a neighbor that is quick to help you out when you need it? Do they bring in your trash can for you because you work late? Do they mow your grass because you are physically unable? Do they take in your newspapers when your out of town? Let us know about them! Contact C.I.A. Services with their name & address and what makes them the perfect neighbor.
